Last updated: 8 May 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the website https://epicrentals.co.za and any rental application or Rent2Buy agreement entered into with EpicRentals (Pty) Ltd (“Epic Rentals”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing the website or submitting a rental application, you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility
To enter into a Rent2Buy agreement with us, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be a permanent resident or citizen of the Republic of South Africa with a valid South African ID;
- Have an active South African bank account in your own name;
- Be able to provide acceptable proof of address dated within the last 3 months;
- Pass the credit, identity, and affordability checks conducted by Digirent.
3. Application process
By submitting a rental application through our website, by email, or by telephone, you:
- Confirm that the information you provide is true, accurate, complete, and current;
- Consent to Digirent and its appointed credit bureaux conducting credit, identity, and affordability checks in line with the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (“NCA”) and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”);
- Authorise Digirent to contact you regarding your application.
Epic Rentals and Digirent reserve the right to decline any application without giving reasons. Submission of an application does not in itself create a binding rental agreement — the agreement comes into effect only once your application is approved and the rental contract is signed.
4. Rent2Buy agreement
When your application is approved, you enter into a written Rent2Buy agreement that sets out:
- The product being rented;
- The rental term (between 6 and 60 months);
- The monthly rental amount;
- The total payable over the term;
- The buyout amount payable at the end of the term to take ownership;
- Any administration or initiation fees from Digirent.
Until the Rent2Buy agreement is signed in writing, no rental obligation is created on either side.
5. Rental term, payments, and ownership
- The minimum rental term is 6 months from the start date of the agreement.
- The maximum rental term is 60 months.
- A 6-month term is treated as a cash purchase with no Digirent admin fee.
- Monthly rental payments are collected by debit order on the agreed date.
- Ownership of the product remains with Epic Rentals (or Digirent, as set out in your contract) until you have paid the full purchase price, including any final buyout payment.
- At the end of the rental term, you settle a one-month buyout payment and ownership of the product transfers to you.
6. Late or missed payments
If a debit order is returned unpaid:
- Interest is charged at 2% above the prime lending rate on the outstanding amount;
- A R19.90 administration fee is charged for each returned debit order;
- You will be contacted to arrange payment.
Repeated default may result in:
- Early termination of the rental agreement;
- Repossession of the product;
- Reasonable collection and recovery costs being recovered from you;
- Adverse listing with credit bureaux in line with the NCA.
7. Care of the product
You must:
- Use the product only for its intended purpose;
- Keep it in a safe and secure environment;
- Take reasonable steps to prevent loss, theft, or damage;
- Not modify, dismantle, or attempt unauthorised repair of the product.
You bear the risk of loss, theft, or accidental damage from the date of delivery. We strongly recommend taking out short-term insurance covering portable possessions while the product remains under the rental agreement.
8. Faulty products and warranty
Manufacturing defects reported within 7 days of delivery are handled in line with our Returns & Refund Policy and the supplier’s manufacturer warranty. Accidental damage, cracked screens, and liquid damage are not covered.
9. Cancellation and early settlement
- You may exercise any cooling-off rights available under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”) within 7 days of signing the agreement, where the law applies.
- After the 6-month minimum term, you may cancel the agreement on 30 days written notice to rentals@epicrentals.co.za.
- You may settle the agreement early at any time. Early settlement amounts are calculated by Digirent on request.
Full details are set out in our Returns & Refund Policy.
10. Privacy and data protection
Personal information you provide is processed in line with our Privacy Policy and POPIA. By applying for a rental, you consent to the processing described in that policy, including credit and identity verification by Digirent and the credit bureaux.
